Get Glowing for Valentine's Day!

Naked Tan's Founder Lea Taylor shares her tips on how to avoid fake tan disasters!

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and whether you already have a date or you’re finally going to ask that special someone to join you for a romantic dinner - you’ll need to get your best glow going!
To ensure you look your best, we have asked Naked Tan’s founder and pioneer of the world’s first two hour wash n’ wear tan, Lea Taylor, to provide expert tips and tricks on how-to to achieve smooth silky skin and a gorgeous natural-looking glow this Valentine’s Day.

THE DO’S

EXFOLIATE FOR A SMOOTH COMPLEXION – One of the golden rules to the perfect tan is a thorough exfoliation. Start exfoliating at least two days before you apply your tan. You need to get rid of all those dead skin cells so your tan will apply evenly onto your skin. Give extra attention to the areas where your skin tends to dry like your elbows, knees and heels.

SHAVE OR WAX BEFORE APPLYING YOU TAN – There is nothing worse than having a gorgeous tan over stubble or hairy legs - you will scare your date off - it’s best to shave or wax 12 hours before applying your self-tanning product to achieve smooth silky legs.

AVOID CREATING A BARRIER – Don’t apply any products containing active ingredients such as petroleum-based lotions, oils or essential oils – they tend to create a barrier that sits on top of the skin and may cause your tan to appear uneven and patchy.

APPLY A SHEA BUTTER MOISTURISER – It’s important to moisturise the day or night before to hydrate your skin and prepare it to receive an even tan. Shea Butter is fabulous for regenerating the skin due to it being a rich all natural moisturiser that deeply softens and replenishes lost moisture from inside out.

DRINK PLENTY OF WATER – Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Keeping hydrated will benefit your tan and your tan will last longer.

THE DONT’S

DON’T GO OVERBOARD – Apply one layer at a time. It’s best to build your tan rather than going overboard and looking like an Oompa Loompa. If you decide you want a deeper tan, you can build on your tan.

DON’T USE SOAP – The ingredients in normal soap can lift the tan from your skin, causing uneveness and patches. It’s best to wash with an organic cleanser or a body wash specifically designed for tanning.

DON’T WASH YOUR HAIR BEFORE YOUR TAN – Conditioner can leave a film over your skin that can make your tan look streaky. It’s best to wash your hair AFTER you have applied your tan.
