Cate Blanchett Stars In New Armani Ad Campaign

Like most of Giorgio Armani’s fragrances, his latest creation is a tribute to modern femininity.

The Giorgio Armani woman captures the essence of Armani Style: delicate, full of emotion, sophisticated, independent and never forgotten.
Si lingers on the skin and captivates the senses, with the combination of three accords: cassis nectar, modern chypre and light musky wood. What results is a mix of sensual vanilla with a subtle touch of patchouli.
With our own Cate Blanchett fronting the fragrance campaign, it’s evident to see why Giorgio Armani handpicked her from a long line of Hollywood beauties. Having filmed the fragrance campaign, French film director Anna Fontaine describes Cate as the embodiment of a ‘free, contemporary woman. When the camera is on her, her personality immediately gives off a very moving intensity, vulnerability and depth.’
We hear from Cate Blanchett and Giorgio Armani on what it means to be a part of the Armani world.

What does attract you to the Armani universe? How do you feel connected to it?
Mr. Armani has created an ever evolving, ever expending, all-encompassing universe. It’s about the way you live your life and who you are as much as how you look. It can contain the sense of how you feel about yourself and how you relate to other people. It’s about how you hold yourself, how you look at other people. It’s a way of life.
The Sì woman is a woman with opposite facets, duality: profound and light-hearted, sophisticated and natural, strong and sensitive. Do you recognise yourself in this duality?
I think all women who are living richly have a sense of duality. As an actress, I’m certainly grateful that I get to inhabit a lot of different types of women because it means you have an empathy and understanding for the fragility and the strength that is part of being a woman. I think the interesting tension that lies between polar opposites like fragility and strength, like sophistication and naturalness is the clash of those two seemingly polar opposite states of being; it’s where the energy of life exists.

How would you define the Giorgio Armani woman?
A presence that you don't forget. She represents the contrasts of a strong and gentle personality – she is both seductive and reserved, spontaneous and refined. A woman that stands out and stays in your memory because of her spirit, gestures and her look.
What was your source of inspiration?
Women and their ability to move between dreams and reality. The delight of seduction and the intensity of pleasure, and emotions that can change life. And no one is able to change it as much as a woman can.
